Battlemarks are something we are all familiar with, however, even with the familiarity we often are left with questions surrounding this feature. Questions such as “Do Battlemarks help defenders? Does it matter who places the Battlemark? Which Research matters when it comes to Battlemarks?” This guide will cover everything you need to know when it comes to Battlemarking other empires and who they are useful for.
What are Battlemarks?
Your eyes travel over the pixels on your screen and you see Base after Base and suddenly one in red pops out! What is this? This is a Battlemark. Battlemarks have a few features that are helpful as you are looking to utilize them.
- They help show your Alliance what target you are looking at by basically, highlighting the Base in Red
- Battlemarks provide additional stats in combat when associated Research and Development Center Nodes are completed.
- Battlemarks have other special features that can be unlocked with special unlocks in different packs.
When Battlemarks were originally released in the Mech Dimension they did not come with stats, it was just a way to mark your opponent and let your alliance see where you were looking. The original unlock for Battlemarks was a purchase and still needs to be purchased just to unlock the ability to Battlemark opponents.
Special Battlemark Features
In the Mech Dimension, we have three special features that can be unlocked in addition to our Battlemarks themselves.
These unlocks each have a unique function:
- Unlock Battlemarks Commander Status Alert– This feature will tell you whether or not a player’s Commander is home, dead, captured.
- Unlock Battlemarks Teleport Alert– This feature will tell you if your Mark has ported and give you a general idea of how far they ported.
- Unlock Battlemarks Peace Shield Alert- This feature indicates if your target is shielded or not and if they are shielded gives a general estimate of how long their shield may have.
We will discuss these features more in our next section about Utilizing Battlemarks.
From the very basic, of how to Battlemark to tips on utilizing the different features this section is going to cover it all. As you are looking out over your State and find a Target you are going to click on their Base. At this point, you will get the pop-up showing you information about their account. At the bottom, you will see the option to “Mark Target.”
In order to Mark a Target, you must be a member of an Alliance. Individually you will have a set number of targets you are able to mark. However, there is also an alliance count for the number of targets that can be marked. This means that as you are done with the Battlemark you will want to go back and remove them so your alliance does not run out of Marks.
Once a Target is Battlemarked if you go to your Alliance Tab and then the Battlemarks Tab you will be able to see your Targets and your Alliance members marks as well.
From your Targets, you have the option to Remove the Mark once the Timer has expired or to Refresh. You can also use the Go To function to go to where your Target was when you marked it. Under the Alliance tab, you will only see the Go To function on your Alliance Members Marks, you are unable to remove or refresh Marks placed by others in your Alliance.
Utilizing Special Battlemark Features
There are two places you can see special Battlemark Features. The first place is on the screen that pops up when you tap on a Base. The second is in the Battlemark Tab.
Important Note: Even if you have not unlocked these features if the individual who marks the target has you can still utilize the features.
When these features do not have a lock symbol on them you are able to press on them and get more information both from the pop-up screen on the map and the Battlemark Tab. In the images below you can see the type of information that can be found.
When a player ports the symbol for the Teleport Feature will change in appearance if you are not familiar with the different images you can click on the image and get more information.
When you click on the port symbol you can see approximately how far the player has ported.
In addition, if you have this unlock and push Go To you will give this pop up giving you more hints on what direction to look in as you are looking for your opponent.
Commander Status Feature
With this feature, the image will change depending on the status of the Commander. If you are not familiar with the different images you are able to click on the image and get more information.
Shield Status Feature
The same is true with the Shield Status, if you are not familiar with the different images you are able to click on the image and get more information.
If the player does have a shield present you may see it say that there is a medium or long or short amount of time left on the shield. While it does not give you exact time amounts the estimations can help if you are waiting for a shield to drop.
Finding Stats for Battlemarks
There are multiple places you can find stats to enhance your Battlemarks. We have listed some of the most common places below. With notes on where specifically they can be found.
Research is where you will get the most stats for your Battlemarks. There are multiple researches available that can enhance your Battlemarks themselves and the stats associated with them. While the Research will have other stats that are not dependent on Battlemarks some of the research will require that your Target be marked for the stats to be active.
You can find Battlemark Stats in the following Research Trees:
- Mechanized Battlemarks
- Mechanized Battlemarks Expansion
- Mechanized Battlemarks Advancement Research
- Mechanized Battlemarks Evolution Research
Which Research Applies to Battlemarks Specifically?
We mentioned above that some of the research in the trees above applies to only Battlemarked targets and other nodes only apply if the target is Battlemarked. It is important to note that when you are looking at this Research it is important to pay attention to the wording.
Research that states the target needs to be Battlemarked indicates that the stat from that node is only active when the target is Battlemarked.
Battlemarks in the Development Center
You can find more stats for your Battlemarks in the Development Center. These stats are in their own category labeled as Battlemarks so they are easy to find.
Mechs and Battlemarks
Our Three newest Mechs have started including Battlemark Stats for their troop Type. This is another place where you are able to skill and increase your stats.
Mods and Battlemarks
The Battlemark Gem Set which was released in January also gives Battlemark Stats making these great Mods to toss on for our Attackers. Who are still working on getting new Elite Mods.
Frequently asked questions about Battlemarks
We Frequently are asked some questions about Battlemarks including:
- Does it Matter who places the Mark?
- Do Battlemarks help defenders?
There have been tests done a few times. However, we have some recent tests that were done by a friend who has allowed us to use their tests here to show examples of Battlemarks at work.
This simply answers the two questions we posed above:
- Does it matter who places the mark? No— The results were the same whether the Battlemark was placed by the attacker or another Alliance Member.
- Does it benefit Defenders to Battlemark their Attacker? No— Once again the results were the same whether our attacker was battlemarked or not. The only thing that changed was when our Defender was Battlemarked or not.
That is it for the Battlemarks in the Mech Dimension. However, we have a ton of other articles to help you with your strategy!
