How To Lead a Really

As I see more players growing in power, I have also noticed more players wanting to try to lead a rally but don’t know how to set up for a rally. Also, a big population of defense bases is not comfortable leading a rally.

So let’s learn how!

The Basics

The biggest thing about being a lead in a rally is preparing.

Your research must be current, especially combat and deployment research.

Another important factor in completing your development center boosts in rewards, combat, and specialized areas if you are using them in the attack. For example, special wall busters combat attack section.

Primarily the most important boosts in the development center are:

  • Attack boost
  • Rally attack boosts
  • Deployment size boosts
  • Health boosts
  • Defense boosts

The Commander

Without the right commander being a rally lead is difficult. Check the strengths of your current available commanders. Participate in rallies and watch which commander the base rally leads are using. And ask your alliance for help if you are unsure about which commander is currently best for rallying. Your commander needs to be leveled up high enough to gain skill points to complete the skill tree and add power to the commander.

You need to set up presets on your commander for gear and skill trees. Complete as many skill tree nodes as you have available points to fill.

When looking at skills attack gear order of completing nodes should be:

  • Attack
  • Rally attack
  • Health
  • Debuffs on the attack, defense, health

Then if you still have points complete the:

  • Deployment size boosts
  • Defense
  • Deploy speed

You also need to set up a preset for deployment gear and skill tree.

The deployment commander skill tree focus should be on increased deployment size boosts first then the same boosts as the attack commander tree in case your target “jumps” or ports on you when you send deployment. You will not lose as much when your deployment hits the target in deploy gear if you set deploy skill tree to attack.

Do not waste skill points on economic areas when setting up an attack or deploy commander presets. Once you have filled in all the focus areas listed above you can use extra points on those items.

Remember, it’s always better to set up a preset with economy gear and economic skills tree separately for the max economy boosts.

The Army

To be a rally lead you need an Army. Primarily you will usually need the same level of the army or higher if your opponent. If your troops, titans, traps are below your target’s highest army you will most likely lose the rally. You also may get your commander capped.

Your troop numbers and tiers are a portion of your base strength. Make sure your troop numbers are in line with your current rally leads in your alliance. Participate in rallies and study the reports for types of troops used. Also, look at the numbers deployed in the rally and numbers killed vs total number opponent has.

You can also ask rally leads for help. Or ask another rally player in the game who is approachable if you are not sure which type of troops and minimum troop numbers are being used.

There is not a set formula and the game changes too often to give you a set formula here of troops you need for a rally.

The Gear

You need two main sets of gear to lead a rally.

The first is deployment gear. The bigger your rally numbers the better your rally results will be.

The second is attack gear. The higher the level of your gear the better results you will have leading a rally. You can use base rally attack gear or debuff gear to lead an attack.

The Mods

The best base rally attack mods for your gear are normally the newest set, but check the stats of the last couple of releases and compare the attack for rally and debuff stats you have available. Place the highest stat set on all your attack gear.

Secondly, it’s also a good idea to use your attack mods in the deployment presets when leading a rally. This is just in case the target “jumps” before you can swap gear when attacking.

We will discuss swapping gear further in a minute.

The Augments

Change the Augments in your rally gun. You will need to be the best current set you have for base rally attack.

The Boosts

When you are the lead on a rally, only YOUR stats and boosts count on the attack. You need to boost everything you can to kill as much as possible with your rally. Do not boost until you are ready to rally and have fillers available. Otherwise, your wasting boosts you paid for in the game.

You will most likely pick you max boosts but some targets may do ok with a lower boost. Use a lower boost especially if you have only a few max boosts that you want to save for a bigger target or to rally longer duration. For example, do not use a 50,000% boost on a small base your only going to hit one time. Your boosts are good for an hourly usually, make the most of the boost. Check the boost limits when picking from those available.

There are currently 4 rally boosts available for using when leading a rally. Also, there are two types of size boosts.

Four Rally Boost Types:

Attack- This boosts your overall attack stats on your base by the % stated on the boost.

Defense- This boosts your overall defense stats on your base by the % stated on the boost.

Rally Attack- This boosts your rally attack stats when you are leading a rally attack on base or control point by the % stated on the boost.

This boost increases the number of your opponent’s army you kill.

Rally Health- This boosts your rally health stats when you are leading a rally attack on base or control point by the % stated on the boost.

This boost increases the number of your army saved.

Two Size Boosts Types

Two types of size boosts include base boost and rally boost.

Base Boost

This boost increases the size you can contribute to a rally.  There are several types of base boosts available. The most commonly used are:

  1. Troop limit boost
  2. Titans limit boost
  3. Trap limit boost
  4. Deployment % or set number boost of the total size of your deployments

Rally Boost

This boost increases the size of your rally , the number others can contribute to your rally.  There are several types of base boosts available. The most commonly used are:

  1. Rally Troop limit boost
  2. Rally Titans limit boost
  3. Rally Trap limit  boost
  4. Rally Deployment % or set number boost of the total size of the rally

Also, be aware that if your boost expires between setting a rally and sending a rally the effects will be lost. If this boost was a size limit increase, your rally will cancel on deployment if you are over deployment limits before boost was applied.

Insignia Banners

Insignia banners for attack will increase your stats. Make sure to check and change these to the best banners you currently have for attack. Check out the profile page of some of the other leads to see what they are using if you are unsure what is current.

Also, make sure once you change the monument banners that you activate them. Pay attention to banner active times and any cool down periods that may apply.

Find a Target

Every rally needs a target. Find a base who is unshielded and burnable can be hard sometimes.

Pick a target at your level, this is a learned ability from studying battle reports. It may also need some trial and error battles as you leading rallies to judge who is a good target.  Again ask your alliance for help in choosing a target.

Battlemark Target

Battle marking a target gives the rally lead an extra attack boost. Make sure you always battle mark your target BEFORE you set a rally. But also be aware not to battle mark too soon before setting or they may shield if they get a notification that they have been marked.

It is a good idea to mark targets in your bookmarks when you find the one you want to try.  This allows you to quickly look for someone to rally when you are ready.

Rally Call

Before you can rally a base you have to make sure you have enough people on the game to fill the rally.

You can also use the @alliance feature to alert fillers offline of a rally.

Swapping Gear

One of the most important skills to learn as a rally lead is how and when to swap gear. I have found a lot of players do not understand this concept and it takes a bit of skill to be honest. But I’m going to make it simple for you. Just practice a few times and you will become a pro!

The biggest reason to use two sets of gear is you get the boosts from both sets of gear and it increases the size of your rally.

These are the simple steps:

  1. Set a rally with the commander in deployment gear
  2. Fill the rally
  3. Send the rally
  4. Wait 3 sec, make sure rally is marching
  5. Change commander gear  to attack gear

It really is that simple. But of course, nothing is simple right? Lol.

If you swap gear before you send rally, the rally will cancel itself because you will be over deployment limits for the attack gear commander is now “wearing”. You can find the limits on your rally deployment screen as shown above.

Secondly, if the target ports or “jumps” when you deploy you may hit the target in deployment gear and loose rally. This occurs because you didn’t have enough time between deployment and target jumping to change gear.

Changing gear quickly is an important skill to master. Practice this skill until you feel comfortable with it. Set a dummy rally on a dead base and practice if you need to. It is a highly valuable skill to have.

Setting A Rally

Ok, so you are finally ready to rally! Let’s go through the steps to set a rally.

  1. Find a target
  2. Check for fillers
  3. Change to rally com in deployment gear
  4. Battlemark target
  5. Set rally
  6. Fill rally
  7. Send rally
  8. Swap gear
  9. Speed up deployment if you wish
  10. Hit target
  11. Check email for results

Conclusion

You have all the tools to become a rally lead. Always rely on your alliance and fellow players to help you perfect these skills.

Also, if you have any questions join us on our social media sites and see what your fellow players are saying. Check out a rally report.

Send a message here with any feedback or questions.  I would be happy to answer anything you’re unsure about with rallying a base.

See you on the battlefield,

Happy Hunting!
