Killlllllllllllll!!!!! We all love fire and State versus State events, otherwise known as SvS, are an amazing opportunity to flex our skills and show off the accounts we invest so much in. However, it is important to know how these events work and to be able to either keep yourself safe or optimize the points you are getting in the event.
Mobile Strike HQ is on a quest to help all of you be in tip-top shape when it comes to kill events and so today we will begin the process of talking about Kill events and what you should be looking at and how to lead your alliance to victory.
MSHQ Tips to Help you Dominate SvS
Today we are going to do some education surrounding SvS and also give you some tips to help you make sure that you are ready to Dominate the playing field when SvS starts.
MSHQ Tip Number One: The Path to Victory Starts before the Opening Bell Rings
Okay, so there’s actually no bell that rings but part of being successful in SvS is preparation. This means that before SvS you are doing a few things:
-
- Spend time before SvS honing your stats through research, buildings, Commanders, mods, insignia, serums, etc. Whether you do this by purchasing packs or completing events does not matter but the game is constantly changing and so your account needs to constantly be changing as well.
- Know your role: Whether that be attacker, trap, filler, scout, or something else, know what role you will play during SvS so that you can prepare for that.
- Train troops as needed, this is great to do starting Thursday evening and going just prior to SvS beginning. This is typically when Train Challenges are running which means you are getting rewarded for training troops you already needed anyways.
- Accumulate Loyalty, ummmm…. What? Okay, so I know this step may seem confusing but the last thing you want to happen is to get hit by a beast of an account and discover that you need a shield but have no loyalty. You need a good stock of loyalty before SvS so you can toss up 8hr shields when you are logging out or being hit by a player that is too strong for you. In addition, loyalty is also going to help you with march speeds and teleports if you are running low.
- Educate Yourself, There are many intelligent players who play Mobile Strike. There is also this awesome website that you are currently reading with tons of knowledge. However, there are also players out there that are a bit clueless. It is okay to still be learning but what you want to be cautious of is players that present themselves as experts but are actually giving bad advice. Part of this is taking the time to learn how things really work and educating yourself.
A Smart player is going to do everything in their power to find reliable information and use that information to help their account excel.
MSHQ Tip Number Two: Knowledge of How the Scoring System Works is Imperative
Knowing how points work is imperative to a successful SvS. If you do not take the time to understand the scoring system then you may be losing more points then you are gaining. This is important knowledge not only as attackers but also as Control Point Players and defenders.
A Look at SvS Scoring
Here you can see a screenshot of a previous SvS scoring system. There are multiple ways to obtain points but really they boil down to four things:
- Hold an opposing State’s Control Point– This means that you are holding the Control Point in a State that is not yours. Holding Control Point in your State may keep another team from getting points there but it also means you are not getting points except on kills you may be getting off incoming deployments.
For Control Point Players it is more effective to hold Control Point in different states and optimize your points by getting points both from holding and by killing troops from other players trying to take over the Control Point you are holding. - Kill Invader Troops– This is either on defense, attack, or Control Point. No matter where you are killing troops as long as they belong to a player that is from a different state you are earning points. This means, do not hit players from your own state; it is simply a waste of time and resources.
One exception I have seen to this rule is when a player from your state is being zeroed and giving other states a lot of points. I have seen players from the same state join in to minimize points given to other players from other States. - Hospitalize invader Troops- This is, of course, going to happen only when you are attacking another base. Points earned here are minimal however, you do get points.
- Kill Invader Traps– Once again you can only do this when attacking another player’s base. Points here are also minimal.
While we discussed 4 ways to earn points the most effective way to earn points is killing troops and holding CP.
Let’s Talk Math
I know I just lost half my audience by saying the “M” word. However, it is important to understand the math of the points when you are engaging in SvS. In my experience there are two types of players in SvS:
- Players who care about the points– For this type of player they want to win and they are watching points and making sure that they are coming out on the positive. Many players want to see their names in sparkling lights and get the recognition. There is nothing wrong with this.
- Players who do not care about the points- This type of player just wants to hit things and watch it burn to the ground. The difficult thing about this type of player is at times you will see the first type of player become frustrated because they do not only want to be successful as an individual but as an alliance.
Calculating the Points
When it comes down to it, well it is fun to burn people. However, be cautious of feeding points. When we look at the scoring for SvS, we will see that each tier of troops comes with its own scoring. This means that there are instances where a player can be burning but winning on points. Let’s take this report as an example:
If we look at this report it feels like our attacker is gaining substantially more points then our defender. However, let’s really dive into this report. Here is what you need to know:
- Our Attacker was using T6
- Our Defender was using T5
Now that you have this basic knowledge it’s time to do the math:
- 1 T6 Kill= 100 Points
- 1 T5 Kill= 50 Points
- 1 T5 Troop Hospitalized= 1 Point
Scoring | Points Gained by Attacker | Points Per Troop | Points Gained by Defender | Points Per Troop |
Troop Loss | 5,505,118 | 50 | 2,725,689 | 100 |
Troops Hospitalized | 3,369,600 | 1 | 0 | 1 |
Troops Killed Points | 275255900 | 272568900
Troops Hospitalized Points | 3369600 | 0
Total | 278,625,500 | 275,294,589 |
What looked like our Attacker clearly doing way better than our defender on points was barely a point win for our attacker. In this situation, if our defender added on just a little more attack and health the balance would shift really quickly. That is why it is important to understand what you are killing and how it balances out gameplay when it comes to points.
Let’s look at another example that is a point win for a defender.
In the Screenshot shown above once again it looks like a clear win for our attacker. However, check out the points calculation.
Scoring | Points Gained by Attacker | Points Per Troop | Points Gained by Defender | Points Per Troop |
Troop Loss | 3,904,163 | 50 | 3,212,368 | 100 |
Troops Hospitalized | 2,931,558 | 1 | 0 | 1 |
Troops Killed Points | 195,208,150 | 321236800
Troops Hospitalized Points | 2,931,558 | 0
Total | 198,139,708 | 324,449,168 |
Our Defender who was running T5 gained more points killing our attackers T6 than our attacker gained killing our defenders T5. Understanding the scoring for SvS is essential to be ready and dominate the battlefield.
