Over the centuries lighting a candle for those who have gone on before us, has taken many meanings. In the early 4th and 5th century Macedonians would light a candle for up to 40 days after a death. They believed that the flame warded off ghosts and demons that may do harm to the soul of the deceased. Greeks and Romans used candles and torches to guide the dead on their final journey and early pagan cultures in Europe and Asia buried their dead with unlit candles and lamps as a way to give their loved ones light in their next life.
Today many religions still observe the practice of lighting a candle whether it be as a prayer, a remembrance, or some other reason it is a way to honor those who have passed on. In Mobile Strike over the years we have lost friends, we have lost family. These losses hurt even if we have never met the person in “real life.” So many times our MS family is as close to our hearts as our actual families.
With this in mind, we want to offer a place where our community can light a candle for those from our community that have passed away. While they may be gone they will forever be in our hearts.
Lighting a Candle
While we may not be able to have literal candles our candles will be the light that was shined into our lives by the members of our community who are gone. With that in mind if you would like to honor a player who has passed away please submit to Cinder or Carol the information you would like included. Ideas for this are as follows:
- Any pictures you would like included
- In-game name
- Alliance/State they belonged to
- Any information about an in-game memorial
- Anything relevant to who the person was
Also, we want to be sure that we include players from the past as they are not forgotten either. Please submit requests for players who passed on prior to this Memorial being built.
