Is your Commander ready to command your army to victory? Your Commander plays an essential role in your Base and knowing how to best utilize your Commander is important in the grand scheme of things. Today I want to spend some time with all of you talking about our Commanders and how you can best utilize them to your advantage. However, before we dive into these valuable tips and tricks join me on an exploration of what the inside of our Commander Quarters currently looks like.
A Look Inside Your Commander Quarters
The Commander Quarters has undergone some changes recently with the addition of Commander four. Commander four will be covered more in-depth in another article so for today we will just be doing a quick review of what our Commander Quarters currently looks like. Currently, when you open your Commander Quarters you will see four Commanders.
- Commander One (Max Level 300)– This Commander is well known for being more diverse with march boosts, type stats, economy stats, and more. This Commander can be utilized by multiple types of players with stats that go well towards many playstyles.
- Commander Two (Max Level 300) This Commander is well known as our attack Commander. The focus of stats here is Base Assault Stats with some march size and poison and debuffs tossed in. This Commander is one that our attackers love to watch but watch out for because at times other Commanders will give you more benefit.
- Commander Three (Max Level 300)– Commander Three is well known as a defender and Control Point Commander. This Commander has gobs of Base Defender and Control Point Specific stats to help both playstyles be successful.
- Commander Four (Max Level ???)– We currently do not know the max level of this Commander, however, it is one to look out for and probably my favorite Commander right now. This Commander is a type-specific Commander and with such a big push towards type stats within the game currently, it is essential to keep an eye on this Commander as any type of player. However, I will say do not miss out on our Commander Four article and get a closer look at the stats that it provides. Some of them are new and worth mentioning.
Tips and Tricks for Gaining Commander XP
Leveling up our Commanders is important to access the skills that give us the stats we need to enter a battle. In order to level up your Commanders you will need two things:
- Commander XP
- Commander Medals
We are not going to cover the cost of Commanders here because we do that in multiple other articles. However, we will cover tips and tricks on gaining Commander XP. When your supply is running short it is important to know other ways that you can level your Commander up. The obvious answer is to do challenges that contain Commander XP or buy packs. However, if you do not want to buy a pack “just for XP” or need XP NOW then you need to know the tips we are going to cover.
MSHQ Tip One: Turn on a Commander XP Boost
This Boost will help boost any earned Commander XP. That means that it does not apply to XP items that are opened from your inventory. However, when you are looking to get XP through different means such as construction, Rebel Targets, dead bases, etc this will help to boost the amount you are getting.
MSHQ Tip Two: Hit Dead bases
Dead bases especially ones with Mechs are a great way to get Commander XP. Little bit of an extra here though, do not forget to actually send your Commander. If your Commander is not there it cannot get the XP. So before you start sending a ton of Commanderless marches out to “farm XP” be sure to remember you need to actually send your Commander.
MSHQ Tip Three: Get Hit and Hit
Any battle you engage in with your Commander will give you Commander XP. This means that if you are hitting others your Commander gets XP. If you are getting hit, then your Commander will get XP. Honestly, sometimes I get annoyed by that because I do not want my Commander to get that much XP when I am taking hits but then I get over it.
MSHQ Tip Four: Do Construction
Construction is another method in which you can gain Commander XP and it is a great way to get that XP if you are already looking to upgrade your buildings already. Pairing your construction with build challenges to obtain a higher level stronghold will also help as you can get rewards too.
MSHQ Tip Five: Hit Rebel Targets
Hitting Rebel Targets is another way that you can gain Commander XP. This is a great way to get this XP and another method that is great to pair with already existing Kill Rebel Target challenges to amp up the rewards you are getting.
MSHQ Tip Six: Manufacture Gear
This tip is useful and not useful all at the same time. For players who are at a lower level Armory manufacturing gear will still give XP. However, somewhere between level 70 and 90 the Armory stops giving Commander XP when manufacturing gear. So this tip is best utilized early on in the game when you are looking to get those initial levels up.
MSHQ Tip Seven: Complete Missions
Alliance, Daily, and VIP Missions all provide Commander XP. This is one of my favorite methods to obtain the XP I need when I cannot add XP from items.
Note: Medals can be obtained in various challenges and packs. Keep an eye on challenges to see which medals they are providing and whether or not those are medals you need.
Utilizing your Commander to its Fullest Potential
There are two tips I am going to cover here. When it comes down to it choosing your Commander for combat and skilling are things that will always be on the table. However, there are two things that I really want to hone in on here to help you guys use your Commanders to their fullest potential.
MSHQ Tip One: Use Your Commander as a Source of Loyalty
Every other hour you will see a Commander XP challenge in the Mech Dimension. This challenge gives loyalty at tier 3 and to complete it at this time you only need to gain 30 million Commander XP. This challenge is going to be a huge source of Loyalty which is essential to help you keep moving forward and gaining items you need to be successful.
Two typical things I encounter here is when players cannot complete this challenge because they are “stuck.”
Problem One: Cin I am stuck because I do not have medals and cannot add any more XP
Solution: This is where the tips above come into play and are even more essential. Even if you are “stuck” those are methods you can still use to gain Commander XP so that you can hit these challenges.
Problem Two: But Cin my Commander is Maxed.
Solution: Ermm… So this is a problem I do not have… #trap… however, I have talked to some of my favorite maxed players to confirm and you can still gain XP using the methods I listed above even if you are in fact maxed on that Commander.
MSHQ Tip Two: Use your Commander as a source of Commander Energy
If you have not noticed every time you level up your Commander your Energy bar refills. This is the stuff you need to hit Rebel Targets. When it comes to Rebel Target challenges and you are running out of energy this is an easy way to get more. However, remember that unless you have a Commander Energy Carryover item for that Commander every time you level you will lose what you have not used. If you cannot level your Commander or your Commander is maxed then you just have to depend on time and Commander Energy items. So make sure that you stay aware of this and level with this in mind.
